Never buy an Ep3 hatch Honda that’s been modified. AT ALL. Don’t do it.

Don’t plan to. Just wanted to know why it had a salvage title so i could talk to my own insurance about salvage titles in general

The best British car ever sold here. Gotta love the combination of working Lucas electronics and VTEC!!!!!!!!!

Wife has an ‘02 Si, one of the first built. It now has 190,000 miles, only repairs a front wheel bearing, radio, and door gasket. Seat and interior like new. It drives like new and gets 6000 miles to the quart of Mobil 1. Amazing car.

Assume something bad that cost more than 50% of the value at the time. If more than 100k miles and 5 years old that could be as little as 2 airbags deployed, bumper skin, fender, hood, headlights and radiator/condensor failed. In other words easy fixes that don’t affect the durability of the car. Modern times make light hits a total.

As long as bolt on parts, it shouldn’t be a problem. Where it gets interesting is when tha accident punches in a front wheel and later on the transmission packs it in.......

Ps, we really don’t know what to replace it. Fit seems too lightweight. Hopefully the base civic english built 5 door is it, otherwise a Acura version HRV. Otherwise its a BMW CUV, next gen CRZ or who knows. New HRV seems too low HP.

You're in Jersey, right? Learn anything from insurance? I was always under the impression it was near impossible to license/insure a salvaged titled vehicle in this state.

Except for that fact that you will be having this conversation when you try to sell it on some time in the future. Better buy it at a huge discount as you will have to ask a hugely discounted number when you sell it - and get a lot of “pass” from potential buyers.

True. But - this is already a 10 year old car so it’s price ought to be at a big discount. Also, I tend to buy and hold so by the time I am selling, the car is so old and high miles but good condition that the last concern is the accident it had 5 years ago.

Now granted, if the paint was still drying, a salvage title would be a bit of a concern. But if the accident was years ago and the car is in good shape, getting a salvage title car is a great way to get a class better car for the money.

Sorry, I was giving you information you already had. Some people are a little less knowledgeable given the wide audience here on OPPO.
